========================

What are we going to do?

========================

·    We are going to discuss the following:

o   The more modern English translations of the bible run the risk of watering down the Great Commission because the meticulous exhaustiveness of teaching the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded in the Great Commission has been lost in these translations.

o   The totality of the Great Commission must include the meticulous exhaustiveness of teaching the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and holding them accountable for obedience.  No half-hearted execution of the Great Commission is acceptable.  Half-hearted execution of the Great Commission will not result in Jesus’ return because it does not meet Jesus’ spec for the Great Commission.

o   Catechized bible studies have a biblical basis.

o   Catechized bible studies are easy to

§  Compose for anyone who has a meaningful understanding of the bible.

§  Facilitate.

o   Catechized bible studies have drawbacks.  As a result of the ceaseless interruption of posing questions, the flow of the bible study is halting and awkward.  It does not make for smooth conversations.  It is advisable for everyone who participates in the bible study to share the blame by taking turns to pose the questions.  This also helps put those at ease who do not have much to contribute to the conversation

o   An Online Catechized Bible Studies Library (OCBSL) can be set up to host catechized bible studies that can be used for teaching disciples to obey what Jesus has commanded.

o   The OCBSL has the potential to grow into a library that increasingly reflects the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and that is readily and widely available.

o   The Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM) is an actual implementation of the Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (DMCPM) that is a conceptual cross between the Disciple-Making Movement (DMM) and the Church-Planting Movement (CPM).

o   Each CDMCPM session

§  Incorporates a catechized bible study to conduct the observation and interpretation portions of an inductive bible study.

§  Conducts in a many-to-many peer relationship accountability for goals of obedience to Jesus’ commands set as an application of the catechized bible study in the previous CDMCPM session.

§  Conducts goal-setting for obedience to Jesus’ commands as an application of the catechized bible study in the current CDMCPM session.

o   If it is supplied by an adequate OCBSL, the CDMCPM will lower the hurdle barring disciples from staying on in the discipleship continuum after confession of faith for the purpose of being taught to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and held accountable for obedience, because

§  Teaching disciples to obey Jesus’ commands can be readily done by other ordinary disciples without specialized skills and abilities such that the vast reserve of ordinary disciples can be mobilized for that purpose.

§  Materials that reflect the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded are readily and widely available to the body of Christ for teaching the disciples.

§  Disciples voluntarily lend themselves to being systematically, routinely and mutually held accountable for obedience in a many-to-many peer relationship to make it feasible for accountability to be held across the entire body of Christ.

o   Organization and use cases of the OCBSL are laid out.

o   Various potential scenarios involving use cases of the OCBSL are laid out to clearly demonstrate the benefit of the OCBSL.

o   The adoption of CDMCPM and the growth of the OCBSL are mutually reinforcing.  The adoption of CDMCPM will drive the growth of the OCBSL, which in turn will drive the adoption of CDMCPM.

o   When the OCBSL has a fully catechized bible with various emphases, various perspectives, various permissible interpretations and various flavors of target-language evangelism tools such as Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, etc., more and more missionaries will adopt CDMCPM.

o   The Great Commission cannot be completed with various parts of the body of Christ working in isolation.  It is imperative that we develop shared platforms such as the OCBSL to make our common pursuit more efficient and to leverage the entire body of Christ for our common pursuit instead of every missionary reinventing the wheel on the mission field.  It then becomes more likely that missionaries will be able to work multiple mission fields in a lifetime as a result of the adoption of CDMCPM that is supplied by an adequate OCBSL serving the long-term needs of native disciples in what are former mission fields.

o   The completion of the Great Commission does not have the spotlight on the mission field alone because it involves teaching the entire body of Christ and not just disciples on the mission field to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded by virtue of the fact that Jesus referred to making disciples of all nations or ethnicities, and holding them accountable for obedience.  In fact the Great Commission cannot be completed if disciples within reached people groups are not taught to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.  Failure of churches within reached people groups to see the need to teach local disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded hinders the completion of the Great Commission more than their failure to send cross-cultural missionaries to the mission field because they do see the need to send out cross-cultural missionaries and might actually be trying to do so.

o   CDMCPM documented on the current website offers a gradation of utilization options:

§  The catechized bible study of the Gospel of Mark for evangelism alone.

§  All catechized bible studies documented on the current website for evangelism and discipleship training alone.

§  All catechized bible studies documented on the current website for evangelism and discipleship training with actual church formation, with the mother church choosing to do any or none of a number of chosen things.

o   For churches that intend to send out cross-cultural missionaries, option #3 of the CDMCPM documented on the current website is advisable for the purpose of raising up and training would-be missionaries, along with whatever choices would simulate the reality of what is going to be done out on the mission field.  When they operate in a simulated environment and go through training in vitro, disciples would develop greater conviction in their answer to God’s call for them to go.  It also meets the local need to teach disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.  It is two birds with one stone.

o   A CDMCPM test bed can be created for purposes of missions research for advancing missions.

What are we going to do?

========================

========================

The more modern English translations of the bible run the risk of watering down the Great Commission

========================

Matthew 28:19-20 (King James Version)

19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20Teaching them to observe ‘all things’ (G3956) ‘whatsoever’ (G3745) I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The King James Version of the Great Commission is an older and a more literal English translation than the other translations we commonly use.  Please note the following:

·    ‘All things’ in verse 20 corresponds to the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3956 and is an adjective that means all, every, etc.

·    ‘Whatsoever’ in verse 20 corresponds to the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3745 and is a pronoun that means whatsoever, whosoever, etc.

The two Greek words together (G3956, G3745) indicate meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded in the Great Commission.

The Young's Literal Translation is another older and more literal English translation that takes into account the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded in the translation of Matthew 28:19-20.

Matthew 28:19-20 (Young's Literal Translation)

19having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them -- to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

20teaching them to observe ‘all’ (G3956), ‘whatever’ (G3745) I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days -- till the full end of the age.

On the other hand the more modern English translations have done without the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded in the translation of Matthew 28:19-20.  Before we look at how these modern English translations translate Matthew 28:19-20, let’s take a look at how they translate the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3745 that means whatsoever, whosoever, etc., in Mark 10:21.

Mark 10:21 (New International Version)

21Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell ‘everything’ (G3745) you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Mark 10:21 (New American Standard Bible)

21Looking at him, Jesus showed love to him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell ‘all’ (G3745) you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Mark 10:21 (English Standard Version)

21And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell ‘all that’ (G3745) you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

These more modern English translations translate the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3745 in Mark 10:21 as

·    ‘everything’ (New International Version)

·    ‘all’ (New American Standard Bible)

·    ‘all that’ (English Standard Version)

These translations are fine.  Now let’s take a look at how they translate Matthew 28:19-20 that has both (G3956, G3745) together.

Matthew 28:19-20 (New International Version)

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20and teaching them to obey ‘everything’ (G3956, G3745) I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20 (New American Standard Bible)

19Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

20teaching them to follow ‘all that’ (G3956, G3745) I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20 (English Standard Version)

19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20teaching them to observe ‘all that’ (G3956, G3745) I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

These more modern English translations translate the two Greek words with Strong's Concordance number (G3956, G3745) in Matthew 28:19-20 as

·    ‘everything’ (New International Version)

·    ‘all that’ (New American Standard Bible)

·    ‘all that’ (English Standard Version)

These more modern English translations make literally no difference between the two Greek words together with Strong's Concordance numbers (G3956, G3745) and the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3745.  In other words the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G3956 that is an adjective that means all, every, etc., has not played any part at all in the translation of Matthew 28:19-20 in these more modern English translations.  The meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded in the Great Commission has thus been lost in these translations, which runs the risk of watering down the Great Commission.

Teaching the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded is not just informing them of Jesus’ commands to obey but also ensuring that they learn by actually obeying the commands.  Students are required to do homework and to pass exams to ensure that they learn what they are taught.  In the same way the disciples are to be held accountable for obeying all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.  Please note that ‘the disciples’ do not just refer to those on the mission field but the entire body of Christ without anyone being left out by virtue of the fact that Jesus referred to making disciples of all nations or ethnicities.

With that in mind the end point of the Great Commission is not just the completion of world evangelization that marks the point when all the elect become committed disciples, but also teaching the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and holding them accountable for obedience.  In other words bringing to completion world evangelization is not the same as bringing to completion the Great Commission.  Jesus will return only at the completion of the Great Commission.  As for how much obedience is required from the body of Christ at the end point of the Great Commission, only God the Father knows.  Therefore only God the Father knows when Jesus will return.

The totality of the Great Commission must include the meticulous exhaustiveness of teaching the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and holding them accountable for obedience.  No half-hearted execution of the Great Commission is acceptable.  Half-hearted execution of the Great Commission will not result in Jesus’ return because it does not meet Jesus’ spec for the Great Commission.

Conditions for lowering the hurdle that bars disciples from discipleship after confession of faith

========================

The hurdle barring disciples from staying on in the discipleship continuum after confession of faith must be lowered such that they can be readily taught to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and held accountable for obedience.  Conditions for lowering the hurdle are as follows:

·    Teaching disciples to obey Jesus’ commands can be readily done by other ordinary disciples without specialized skills and abilities such that the vast reserve of ordinary disciples can be mobilized for that purpose.

·    Materials that reflect the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded need to be made readily and widely available to the body of Christ for teaching the disciples.

·    Disciples voluntarily lend themselves to being systematically, routinely and mutually held accountable for obedience in a many-to-many peer relationship to make it feasible for accountability to be held across the entire body of Christ.

Catechized bible studies

========================

The format of catechized bible studies has biblical basis.  The word ‘catechize’ means to instruct, specifically by means of questions and answers.  It corresponds to the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G2727.  It is used 8 times in 7 verses in the bible.  The following 7 verses are quoted from the New American Standard Bible (NASB).

Luke 1:4 (NASB)

4so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught (G2727).

Acts 18:25 (NASB)

25This man had been instructed (G2727) in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was accurately speaking and teaching things about Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John.

Acts 21:21 (NASB)

21and they have been told (G2727) about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

Acts 21:24 (NASB)

24Take them along and purify yourself together with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and then everyone will know that there is nothing to what they have been told (G2727) about you, but that you yourself also conform, keeping the Law.

Romans 2:18 (NASB)

18And know His will and distinguish the things that matter, being instructed (G2727) from the Law.

1 Corinthians 14:19 (NASB)

19Nevertheless, in church I prefer to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct (G2727) others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Galatians 6:6 (NASB)

6The one who is taught (G2727) the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches (G2727) him.

In the NASB the 8 instances of the Greek word with Strong's Concordance number G2727 are respectively translated as

·    Teach (3 times)

·    Instruct (3 times)

·    Tell (2 times)

Catechized bible studies are used to teach, instruct and tell disciples who participate in the study the bible.  The body of Christ has a history of using catechism for teaching doctrines.  There are also examples of catechism in the bibles that demonstrate the benefit of using it.

Exodus 12:21-27 (New International Version)

21Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb.

22Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.

23When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.

24“Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants.

25When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony.

26And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’

27then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

Joshua 4:4-7 (New International Version)

4So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe,

5and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites,

6to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’

7tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”

Mark 8:27-29 (New International Version)

27Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”

28They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”

29“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”

From these three passages of the bible those who are catechized are taught using a question and an answer something that is very important and that needs to be seared into their memory.  Catechized bible studies help sear the bible into the memory of disciples who participate in the study.  What Jesus has commanded is recorded in the bible, noting that every command therein is from Jesus because he is the Word of God.  Thus catechized bible studies help sear what Jesus has commanded into the memory of disciples who participate in the study.

Catechized bible studies are easy to facilitate.  Each study is laid out as a series of questions and answers that can be readily followed by the facilitator.  This keeps the discussion from going off in a tangent.  The facilitator would on the other hand encourage discussion among participants and not just read off the pages of the study.  It is only when the participants have not fully discussed the meaning of a verse that the facilitator supplements what has been discussed with information from answers on the pages of the study.  No specialized skills and abilities are required on the part of the facilitator so that catechized bible studies can be readily facilitated by ordinary disciples to conduct the observation and interpretation portions of an inductive bible study.

Catechized bible studies have drawbacks.  As a result of the ceaseless interruption of posing questions, the flow of the bible study is halting and awkward.  It does not make for smooth conversations.  If the facilitator is to pose all the questions, the facilitator would be blamed for doing a poor job facilitating the bible study.  For that reason it is advisable for everyone who participates in the bible study to share the blame by taking turns to pose the questions.  This also helps put those at ease who do not have much to contribute to the conversation.

Online Catechized Bible Studies Library (OCBSL)

========================

Anyone who has a meaningful understanding of a book of the bible or a biblical topic can readily create a catechized bible study and contribute it to an Online Catechized Bible Studies Library (OCBSL) that can be downloaded by anyone from anywhere at any time.  Over time the OCBSL can be populated with a multiplicity of catechized bible studies with various emphases, various perspectives and various permissible interpretations.  Catechized bible studies that are used for the purpose of evangelism can be composed to specifically target uncommitted disciples of Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist or any other cultures and contributed to the OCBSL.  It is the catechized format as the canonical format of bible studies for teaching disciples that enables anyone with a meaningful understanding of the bible to readily contribute to the OCBSL and that enables ordinary disciples to readily take advantage of the bible studies.  The OCBSL has the potential to grow into a library that increasingly reflects the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and that is readily and widely available.

The Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM)

========================

The Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM) is an actual implementation of the Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (DMCPM) that is a conceptual cross between the Disciple-Making Movement (DMM) and the Church-Planting Movement (CPM).  CDMCPM is designed to fulfill the mandate of the Great Commission for us to teach the disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and to hold them accountable for obedience.  Each CDMCPM session

·    Incorporates a catechized bible study to conduct the observation and interpretation portions of an inductive bible study.

·    Conducts in a many-to-many peer relationship accountability for goals of obedience to Jesus’ commands set as an application of the catechized bible study in the previous CDMCPM session.

·    Conducts goal-setting for obedience to Jesus’ commands as an application of the catechized bible study in the current CDMCPM session.

========================

========================

CDMCPM supplied by an adequate OCBSL will go a long way in lowering the hurdle that bars disciples from discipleship after confession of faith

========================

The fact that every CDMCPM session includes a catechized bible study reinforces the centrality and meticulous exhaustiveness of teaching disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.  The goal-setting for obedience to Jesus’ commands and accountability for goals of obedience in each CDMCPM session have disciples lend themselves to being systematically, routinely and mutually held accountable for obedience in a many-to-many peer relationship.  If it is supplied by an adequate OCBSL, the CDMCPM will lower the hurdle barring disciples from staying on in the discipleship continuum after confession of faith such that they can be readily taught to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and held accountable for obedience because, quoting from the conditions for lowering the hurdle listed earlier:

·    Teaching disciples to obey Jesus’ commands can be readily done by other ordinary disciples without specialized skills and abilities such that the vast reserve of ordinary disciples can be mobilized for that purpose.

·    Materials that reflect the meticulous exhaustiveness of all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded are readily and widely available to the body of Christ for teaching the disciples.

·    Disciples voluntarily lend themselves to being systematically, routinely and mutually held accountable for obedience in a many-to-many peer relationship to make it feasible for accountability to be held across the entire body of Christ.

========================

========================

The adoption of CDMCPM and the growth of the OCBSL are mutually reinforcing

========================

The adoption of CDMCPM and the growth of the OCBSL are mutually reinforcing.  The adoption of CDMCPM will drive the growth of the OCBSL, which in turn will drive the adoption of CDMCPM.  When the OCBSL has a fully catechized bible with various emphases, various perspectives, various permissible interpretations and various flavors of target-language evangelism tools such as Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, etc., more and more missionaries will adopt CDMCPM, which in turn will drive the growth of the OCBSL.

========================

========================

The OCBSL steps up the participation of the body of Christ in the Great Commission

========================

With the catechized format of the OCBSL as the canonical format of bible studies for teaching disciples, anyone with a meaningful understanding of the bible can contribute to the OCBSL and therefore to the completion of the Great Commission.  This steps up the participation of the body of Christ in the Great Commission otherwise infeasible and enhances the likelihood of the success of the CDMCPM as a legitimate tool for meeting the demand of the Great Commission.  The Great Commission cannot be completed with various parts of the body of Christ working in isolation.

========================

Organization and use cases of the OCBSL

========================

Next let’s take a look at how the OCBSL can be organized and maintained.  Please note the following about the OCBSL:

·    The catechized format is the canonical format and the only format of bible studies.

·    The canonical language is English since English is a global language that is easy to learn and use and in which most mission literature is available.  Every bible study that is available is available in the canonical language.

·    The English version of a bible study is the canonical version.

·    The canonical archive comprises all the bible studies that are of the canonical version.

·    A target language is a language in which at least some of the bible studies are available.

·    A bible study that is in a target language is the target-language version.

·    A target-language archive comprises all the bible studies that are of the target-language version.

·    The OCBSL comprises the canonical archive along with all the target-language archives.

·    There cannot exist a bible study in a target language that does not also exist in the canonical language.  On the other hand there can exist a bible study in the canonical language but that does not also exist in a specific or for that matter any target language.

·    The primordial language of a bible study is its language of composition when it is created through composition and not translation.  Please note that the primordial language of a bible study can be the canonical language or any target language.  If the primordial language of a bible study is the canonical language, target-language versions of the bible study can be derived from the canonical version through translation.  Conversely if the primordial language of a bible study is a target language, the canonical version can be derived from the target-language version through translation.

·    The version of a bible study that is in the primordial language is the primordial version.

·    The editorial board is responsible for creating and maintaining the OCBSL.  It comprises a bible board and a language board.  The expertise of the bible board is in the bible while the expertise of the language board in target languages.

·    There are three use cases of submission to the OCBSL:

1)  The submission has the canonical version of a bible study for first-time submission.  In this case the canonical version of the bible study must not already exist in the OCBSL.

2)  The submission has a target-language version of a bible study that is derived from the existing canonical version through translation.  In this case the canonical version of the bible study must already exist in the OCBSL.

3)  The submission has a target-language version of a bible study that is the primordial version along with the canonical version that is derived from the target-language version through translation.  In this case the canonical version of the bible study must not already exist in the OCBSL.

·    The editorial board processes the three use cases of submission as follows:

1)  The bible board ensures that the canonical version of the bible study does not already exist in the OCBSL, reviews the submitted canonical version for compatibility with the bible and then populates the canonical archive with the canonical version of the bible study.

2)  The language board ensures that the canonical version of the bible study already exists in the OCBSL, reviews the submitted target-language version for proper use of language in translation from the canonical version and then populates the target-language archive with the target-language version of the bible study.

3)  The language board ensures that the canonical version of the bible study does not already exist in the OCBSL, reviews the submitted canonical version for proper use of language in translation from the submitted target-language version and passes the submission to the bible board for further processing.  The bible board reviews the submitted canonical version of the bible study for compatibility with the bible and then populates the canonical archive with the canonical version of the bible study and the target-language archive with the target-language version of the bible study.

========================

Potential scenarios involving use cases of the OCBSL

========================

There are various potential scenarios involving use cases of the OCBSL.  The following four scenarios clearly demonstrate the benefit of the OCBSL

Scenario #1

·    The missionary

o   Starts a CDMCPM on the mission field.

o   Creates the canonical version of a bible study and derives the target-language version from the canonical version through translation.

o   Uses the target-language version to teach native disciples on the field.

o   Submits to the OCBSL using use case #1 the canonical version.

o   Submits to the OCBSL using use case #2 the target-language version.

Scenario #2

·    The missionary is so busy that he/she needs help with creating canonical versions of bible studies.  It can also be the case that disciples in his/her sending church have bible expertise that can be put to use on the mission field, which is usually the case with missionary-sending churches.  So he/she asks disciples in his/her sending church to help create canonical versions of bible studies.

·    Disciples in the sending church

o   Create the canonical version of a bible study.

o   Submit to the OCBSL using use case #1 the canonical version.

·    The missionary

o   Downloads from the OCBSL the canonical version of the bible study.

o   Derives the target-language version from the canonical version through translation.

o   Uses the target-language version to teach native disciples on the field.

o   Submits to the OCBSL using use case #2 the target-language version.

·    Short-term mission now takes on a whole new meaning for disciples in the sending church.  It is done in front of a computer and just as impactful.

·    The missionary

o   Makes a strategic decision to get disciples in the sending church to participate in work on the field, which is going to help cultivate his/her working relationship with them and increase their awareness and ownership of mission, not to mention that he/she can now devote more of his/her time to other chores on the field.

o   Can eventually turn the task of creating canonical versions of bible studies completely over to disciples in the sending church.

o   Could have advised disciples in the sending church of this arrangement when the mission endeavor was still on the drawing board so that they could make advanced and concomitant preparation with the then would-be missionary.

Scenario #3

·    The missionary realizes that

o   Disciples in the sending church can completely take over the task of creating canonical versions of bible studies.

o   According to yet more indicators his/her physical presence among the native disciples is no longer needed.

·    The missionary

o   Turns over to disciples in the sending church the task of creating canonical versions of bible studies.

o   Moves on to another mission field.

·    Disciples in the sending church

o   Create the canonical version of a bible study.

o   Submit to the OCBSL using use case #1 the canonical version.

·    The missionary, while on the new mission field,

o   Downloads from the OCBSL the canonical version of the bible study.

o   Derives the target-language (language of the original mission field) version from the canonical version through translation.

o   Submits to the OCBSL using use case #2 the target-language (language of the original mission field) version.

·    Native disciples on the field

o   Download from the OCBSL the target-language version of the bible study.

o   Use the target-language version to teach native disciples.

Scenario #4

·    Native disciples on the field

o   Have developed sufficient expertise in the bible that they are able to create target-language versions of bible studies.

o   Create the target-language version of a bible study.

o   Use the target-language version to teach native disciples.

The Great Commission cannot be completed if disciples within reached people groups are not taught to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded

========================

The completion of the Great Commission does not have the spotlight on the mission field alone because it involves teaching the entire body of Christ and not just disciples on the mission field to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded by virtue of the fact that Jesus referred to making disciples of all nations or ethnicities, and holding them accountable for obedience.

CDMCPM within reached people groups

========================

Churches within reached people groups (greater than 2% Evangelical Christians and greater than 5% Professing Christians according to Joshua Project) can also utilize CDMCPM.  CDMCPM documented on the current website offers a gradation of utilization options as follows:

1)  The catechized bible study of the Gospel of Mark for evangelism alone.

2)  All catechized bible studies documented on the current website for evangelism and discipleship training alone.

3)  All catechized bible studies documented on the current website for evangelism and discipleship training with actual church formation, with the mother church choosing to do any or none of the following:

o   Controlling the use of catechized bible studies beyond those on the current website.

o   Controlling administration of the Lord’s Supper.

o   Controlling administration of baptism.

o   Mandating joining the mother church for worship service once every ? weeks.

o   Appointing leaders.

o   Deciding how offerings should be used.

o   Providing training.

o   Deciding future direction.

o   Coordinating the sending out of cross-cultural missionaries.

o   Exercising church discipline when necessary.

o   Providing arbitration for conflict.

CDMCPM for the purpose of raising up and training would-be missionaries

========================

For churches that intend to send out cross-cultural missionaries, option #3 of the CDMCPM documented on the current website is advisable for the purpose of raising up and training would-be missionaries, along with whatever choices would simulate the reality of what is going to be done out on the mission field.  When they operate in a simulated environment and go through training in vitro, disciples would develop greater conviction in their answer to God’s call for them to go.  It also meets the local need to teach disciples to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and hold them accountable for obedience.  It is two birds with one stone.

A CDMCPM test bed can be created for purposes of missions research for advancing missions

========================

The following is a list of examples of missions topics for research that can be done on a CDMCPM test bed:

·    How do we enhance the spontaneous reproduction of evangelism, churches, discipleship and leaders?  This is important for areas where there is persecution and access is restricted.

·    How do we enhance the long-term sustainability of churches reproduced?

·    How do we strengthen the identity of the church through wise application of Ecclesiology without hampering spontaneous church reproduction?

·    How do we strengthen the component of teaching, discipleship and leadership development while under resource constraint?

·    How do we apply quality control to the execution of the three components of making disciples as specified in the Great Commission?

o   Baptizing the disciples in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

o   Teaching the disciples all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.

o   Ensuring that the disciples obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded.

·    How do we compose a series of catechized bible study for adult that would facilitate transition to the biblical worldview?

·    How do we compose multiple series of catechized bible study to be used for children as they progress through childhood that would strengthen their biblical worldview, so that when they leave home for a hostile environment such as college, they would not fall away?

·    How do we assess that the transition to the biblical worldview is complete in a disciple?

·    How do we set up an Online Catechized Bible Studies Library (OCBSL) that is readily and widely available?
