Why do we pursue a Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM)?

========================

1)       Why do we pursue a Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM)?

o  That s a good question. Let s delve into the details.

2)       What specifically does a CDMCPM accomplish?

o  A CDMCPM mobilizes committed disciples to make an application of Jesus parables of the kingdom of God through the following:

Draw as many uncommitted disciples as possible into the process of getting to know Jesus so that they can be afforded the opportunity to repent, believe the good news, be baptized and become committed disciples.

Establish as many churches as is needed to build up the newly committed disciples.

Train the newly committed disciples to be leaders to sustain the perpetual cycle of disciple making and church planting.

3)       What are the significant ramifications for pursing a CDMCPM?

o  Significant ramifications for pursing a CDMCPM include but are not limited to the following:

The body of Christ will more effectively make disciples.

Jesus command for us to go and make disciples of all nations as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 can be better heeded.

The body of Christ can be better prepared for enduring persecution in the end time.

Jesus prayer for us to become one as recorded in John 17:20-23 can be better answered.

A better foundation can be laid for disciples to love one another.

A revival of the church is pursued in a tangible way.

4)       In what ways will the body of Christ be more effective in making disciples?

o  Rank-and-file disciples will turn away from their usual lack of zeal as they are consistently mobilized to make disciples.

o  Rank-and-file disciples will cease delegating their personal obligations for making disciples to fulltime ministers.

o  Fulltime ministers will not get bogged down by having to handle all sorts of mundane responsibility and will be able to focus on training disciples.

o  Rank-and-file disciples will cease getting stuck in a state of not knowing how but will attain a greater leadership capability for making disciples and planting churches.

o  Rank-and-file disciples are taught all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded as they sit together and discuss what the bible says through Catechized Bible Studies (CBS) and are held accountable for obedience through the CDMCPM session in which CBS is conducted.

o  The average cost of a person coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus will be drastically reduced.

o  The scenario of infighting for power and control and the abuse of power will be reduced because power is more decentralized.

o  Leadership is exercised in a more enlightened manner by way of influence and persuasion than by way of power and coercion because of decentralization of power.

o  There is less likelihood of ministry burnout because there is a larger pool of active disciples for sharing responsibility. Burnout is no virtue and is a sign that responsibility has not been adequately delegated.

5)       How will Jesus command for us to make disciples of all nations as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 be better heeded?

o  A CDMCPM is initiated upon the belief that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus such that there is a mandate for every human being to enter into the process of getting to know him.

o  The culture of going as commanded in the Great Commission is consistently practiced as disciples are consistently mobilized to go out to start a new bible study group. That practice of going out is part of the culture of a CDMCPM that can be leveraged and developed further for the sake of cross-cultural mission.

o  Obedience-based discipleship with disciples being taught all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded through CBS and being held accountable for obedience through the CDMCPM session in which CBS is conducted fulfills Jesus spec of discipleship in the Great Commission.

o  A would-be cross-cultural missionary, in addition to receiving theological and language training, can participate in a CDMCPM in his/her own culture for training before coming among the target unreached people.

o  A CDMCPM test bed can be created for purposes of missions research for advancing missions.

o  The completion of the Great Commission does not have the spotlight on the mission field alone because it involves teaching the entire body of Christ and not just disciples on the mission field to obey all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded by virtue of the fact that Jesus referred to making disciples of all nations or ethnicities. In fact the Great Commission cannot be completed if local disciples of traditional-model churches within reached people groups are not taught all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and held accountable for obedience. The following is a means for traditional-model churches within reached people groups to fulfill Jesus spec of discipleship in the Great Commission for local disciples:

CBS has the potential to draw traditional-model churches as co-laborers and stake holders in disciple-making while they continue their traditional model. CBS provides the channel for them to use their biblical expertise to contribute to the content of disciple-making materials, which would foment and secure their buy-in to the common goal of disciple making.

The traditional-model churches can use CBS to teach local disciples all things whatsoever Jesus has commanded and hold them accountable for obedience through the CDMCPM session in which CBS is conducted.

6)       How can the body of Christ be better prepared for enduring persecution in the end time?

o  Individual disciples must look inward to the indwelling Holy Spirit for help in overcoming persecution in the end time because they will find themselves facing persecution on their own. Disciples in a CDMCPM have formed a consistent habit of looking inward to the indwelling Holy Spirit for interpreting the bible for facilitating bible study groups, forming churches, functioning as church and sending out missionaries. They can rely on the Holy Spirit as they consistently do for fulfilling their calling in the end time.

o  As a CDMCPM inevitably moves disciples into the house-church setting, they are better poised organizationally speaking for enduring persecution.

o  The long-term discipleship series includes a bible study on persecution. The months immediately after an uncommitted disciple becomes committed form a window when the disciple has great zeal for telling others about Jesus and great eagerness to learn whatever the disciple can learn about the new-found faith. Information newly-committed disciples learn during this window tend to be seared into their mind in a way akin to a DNA being set.

7)       How can Jesus prayer for us to become one as recorded in John 17:20-23 be better answered?

o  We are divided and not one with one another because we individually disobey instructions in the bible. When we participate in the obedience-based discipleship training in a CDMCPM, we would exercise greater obedience and would more likely be brought to unity.

8)       How can a better foundation be laid for disciples to love one another?

o  In a regular worship service, we can only see the back of people s heads except those on stage. And in some churches at the prayer meeting, we can again only see the back of people s heads except those on stage. We have no way of bonding with our fellow disciples even when we as children of God come corporately into the very presence of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit on these two most important occasions. It is not conducive to disciples loving one another. When we go home and sit with our spouse and children, we would not want to see only the back of their heads and desist from talking to them.

o  In every gathering of a CDMCPM disciples sit facing one another. Disciples can bond with one another when they sit face to face across from one another, talk to one another and look one another in the eyes. When a disciple rejoices, everyone present would notice and rejoice with the disciple; when a disciple mourns, everyone present would notice and mourn with the disciple. There is no way to hide but hey, that is intended because that is when we rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn as Romans 12:15 says.

9)       How is a revival of the church pursued in a tangible way in pursuing a CDMCPM?

o  Preaching has often been used by God to fuel revivals of the traditional-model church in the past. But then it seems these days that revivals to sustain the traditional-model church might no longer be a legitimate expectation since revivals like those of the past are not forthcoming. Instead we see disciple-making movements and church-planting movements springing up on mission fields where large numbers of people become disciples, indicating that these movements are themselves de facto revivals of the church. If we are looking for a revival of the church, we might have to look in a CDMCPM.

10)   Are we saying that a CDMCPM is the fix for all the problems the church faces and why?

o  No, because a CDMCPM has its own share of problems that need to be dealt with.
