What are we going to do?

========================

    We are going to discuss the following:

o  The CDMCPM session sets the following DNA of discipleship in the life of the disciples who participate in the session:

The authority of the bible.

Prayer.

Making disciples who obey Jesus commands.

o  The CBS aligns the Catechized Disciple-Making Church-Planting Movement (CDMCPM) with the discipleship principle of the priesthood of all believers.

o  The proceedings of the CDMCPM session can be used outside of the CDMCPM context for the purpose of discipleship.

The CDMCPM session sets the DNA of the authority of the bible in the life of the disciples who participate in the session

========================

The focal point of every CDMCPM session of CDMCPM is the study of the bible. The study of the bible is the backbone of obedience-based discipleship in CDMCPM. The obedience is to what Jesus has commanded in the bible. That makes the CDMCPM session bible-centric. The discipline of the authority of the bible is instilled in the disciples through the CDMCPM process that ensures that disciples who participate in it obey the bible as their authority. The surety comes from the mutual accountability enforced for each stated goal of obedience disciples voluntarily set for themselves as the Holy Spirit directs them upon completion of each bible study. Thus the authority of the bible as a necessary DNA of discipleship becomes ingrained in the life of the disciples in CDMCPM.

The CDMCPM session sets the DNA of prayer in the life of the disciples who participate in the session

========================

Mutual accountability for each stated goal of obedience and each stated goal of fishing for people a disciple sets is lovingly enforced when one disciple

    Intercedes on behalf of another disciple throughout the week for a stated goal of obedience or a stated goal of fishing for people the latter has made during a CDMCPM session.

    Earns the right to enforce accountability for the stated goal of the other disciple by virtue of the loving kindness behind the intercession.

    Actually enforces accountability for the stated goal of the other disciple during the following CDMCPM session.

In the mutual accountability for obedience and fishing for people the disciples care for one other and open themselves up to be cared for by others through prayer. Just imagine what an isolated and disconnected world it is if each disciple were to pray only for his/her own stated goals and what a loving and kind world it is for each disciple to pray for one another in the matter. The total amount of prayer that will have been prayed in both scenarios is about the same but the loving kindness in the latter makes a whole world of difference between the two. Furthermore fellowship of the disciples in the Holy Spirit through prayer is found only in the latter but not the former.

Disciples who attend the CDMCPM session feel cared for by one other. It draws out the pastoral care of individual disciples for one another, enhances their fellowship experience with one other, and makes for a more cohesive church. The responsibility of caring for the disciples does not fall on the overseer of the church alone but is shared among all disciples. The pastoral care of individual disciples for one another through prayer is a step closer to fulfilling Jesus commands for us to love one another.

The discipline of prayer is instilled in the disciples through the CDMCPM process that ensures that disciples who participate in it would pray for one another. Thus prayer as a necessary DNA of discipleship becomes ingrained in the life of the disciples in CDMCPM.

In addition the discipline of making disciples who obey Jesus commands is instilled in the disciples through the CDMCPM process that ensures that disciples who participate in it would fish for people and teach them to obey Jesus commands. Thus making disciples who obey Jesus commands as a necessary DNA of discipleship becomes ingrained in the life of the disciples in CDMCPM.

The CBS aligns CDMCPM with the discipleship principle of the priesthood of all believers

========================

The CBS is canned and designed to make the study and interpretation of the bible less intimidating and challenging. As a result of using CBS, the CDMCPM session is less dependent on the bible expertise of the leader of the CBS group and the overseer of the church. The requirement of leadership is primarily faithfulness in executing its responsibilities in accordance with documented procedures in the CDMCPM session. It enables more disciples to take on the role of leadership and together with the disciples pastoral care for one another through prayer aligns CDMCPM with the principle of the priesthood of all believers.

Consequently the church does not easily fall apart when the overseer is gone. Another disciple attending the church would likely be able to take over the leadership responsibilities. In fact the collective recollection of the whole church of how the former overseer used to facilitate the CDMCPM session could assist the new overseer in taking on the role, not to mention the step-by-step documentation for facilitating the session that is available. It makes the church more resilient to leadership changes. Leadership changes in an active CDMCPM can be frequent when the more enterprising disciples turn over their existing leadership responsibilities so that they can be freed up to start a new CBS group.
