Please note the following guidelines for the facilitator of the CDMCPM session of a church:

The current document provides the instructions for facilitating the CDMCPM session of a church and not the CBS of a group.

The moment it has completed the short-term discipleship series for church formation, a CBS group is officially a church. The current document can be used to facilitate the CDMCPM session of the church.

The current document should not be used by a CBS group if the group has not completed the short-term discipleship series for church formation.

The facilitator ensures that prayer permeates every CDMCPM session.

There may be uncommitted disciples in a church when the church is formed from its predecessor CBS group, if not all uncommitted disciples in the group become committed upon church formation. In that case the facilitator should encourage the uncommitted disciples to participate in every activity in the CDMCPM session of the church for the purpose of engaging and interacting with God so that they get to know what it is like to become committed.

The facilitator of the CDMCPM session can be

o  The overseer of a church.

o  Any committed disciple who is willing to step up to the plate.

Overseer of the church practices the MAWL (Model, Assist, Watch, Leave) principle in regard to participants in the church in the following manner:

o  Model playing the role of the facilitator in front of participants through routinely facilitating the CDMCPM session.

o  Assist participants in taking on the role of the facilitator by providing

Ample opportunity for them to play the role, especially those who have started their own groups so that they will become sufficiently proficient in executing the responsibilities of being a facilitator by the time their groups become churches.

Feedback on their performance as facilitator and advice for improvement.

o  Watch over participants who are leaders of their own groups and answer any questions they might encounter while facilitating their groups for the CBS light of the gospel of Mark.

o  Leave and release participants who are leaders of their own groups so that

Their groups become churches.

They become overseers of the churches.

They no longer attend the parent church.

o  Provide the released overseers of child churches with coaching on a weekly basis.

If the facilitator does not know the answer to a question the participants may have, the facilitator can find out the answer later and provide the answer at the next CDMCPM session.

A CDMCPM session has multiple segments as shown below. The facilitator must put a stop to an ongoing segment when it has reached its allotted time.

=====================

BEGIN CDMCPM SESSION

=====================

1)       [BEGIN CDMCPM SESSION]

o  The facilitator opens the CDMCPM session in payer.

2)       [ANNOUNCEMENTS & THINGS]

o  If this is the first time the church meets, the deacon and the treasurer should be appointed. The appointments are made by the church when participants volunteer for those roles.

o  If appointments for the deacon and the treasurer need to be made, the facilitator leads the church to make those appointments by inviting the participants to volunteer for those roles.

o  The facilitator makes announcements if there is any.

o  The facilitator asks the church if anyone has any announcements to make and if so, let the participant make the announcement.

3)       [PASTORAL CARE]

o  The facilitator begins by going around the church and having each participant share one thing they are thankful for and one thing that is challenging them.

o  The facilitator transitions the sharing time to the time for a concert of intercessory prayer with fellow participants interceding on behalf of one another concerning what is challenging them.

4)       [WORSHIP]

o  The facilitator continues the concert of intercessory prayer by calling on fellow participants to give thanks on behalf of one another concerning what they are thankful for.

5)       [THE LORD S SUPPER]

o  How often the Lord s Supper is administered is the decision of each church. If the Lord s Supper is not administered each week and if the current week is the off-week, then it can be skipped.

o  Everyone who has repented, believed the good news and been baptized can partake of the Lord s Supper.

o  The deacon should have made advanced preparation for the Lord s Supper.

o  To administer the bread the facilitator

Takes a loaf of bread.

Gives thanks.

Breaks the bread.

Passes the broken bread around so that everyone has the bread.

Makes the declaration, saying, Take and eat; this is the Lord s body.

o  Everyone partakes of the Lord s body.

o  To administer the cup the facilitator

Takes the cups filled with grape juice, as many cups as there are partakers of the Lord s Supper.

Gives thanks.

Passes the cups around.

Makes the declaration, saying, Drink from it; this is the Lord s blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

o  Everyone partakes of the Lord s blood.

6)       [OFFERING]

o  The facilitator gives thanks for the offering.

o  An offering is taken by the deacon.

o  The offering is counted and recorded by the treasurer in front of everyone.

7)       [SET THE DNA OF LOVE]

o  The facilitator leads the church in discussing what to do to give to the needs of

Disciples within the church.

People in the community.

o  The facilitator leads the church in discussing what to do to perform acts of service for

Disciples within the church.

People in the community.

o  The facilitator leads the church in setting a schedule for performing acts of service at least once a month.

8)       [LOVING ACCOUNTABILITY & PRAY]

o  The facilitator must refrain from demanding that participants give accountability to him/her for working toward goals of obedience in such a way that could lead to the development of a cult-like atmosphere.

o  The facilitator invites the participants including himself/herself to share how they have worked toward the goals of obedience since the previous session by doing the following:

The facilitator asks for a volunteer participant who will do the following:

State how he/she has been praying for another participant (can be the facilitator) since the previous session concerning the other participant s stated goals of obedience.

Ask the other participant to share the progress that has been made toward the goals.

Let the other participant share the progress/setback.

If the other participant says that he/she has not made any progress or has suffered setback in that regard, the volunteer participant should:

Refrain from being judgmental toward the other participant.

Give a word of encouragement to cheer the other participant on and to not give up.

Pledge to continue to pray for the other participant.

Pledge to revisit the matter with the other participant in the next session unless it is by then no longer relevant.

The facilitator should invite volunteers one by one to exhaustively perform the accountability function on all the participants including himself/herself.

In case there are not enough volunteers to hold every participant accountable, the facilitator should:

Perform the accountability function on the remaining participants, including himself/herself, if he/she is among them, based on the record of goals of obedience he/she kept from the previous session.

Have been praying since the previous session for every participant who has set a goal of obedience.

o  The facilitator starts a concert of intercessory prayer of the participants by calling on them to give thanks to God on behalf of one another concerning progress of obedience that has been made and to intercede on their behalf for setback that has been encountered.

o  The facilitator must refrain from demanding that participants give accountability to him/her for working toward goals of fishing for people in such a way that could lead to the development of a cult-like atmosphere.

o  The facilitator invites the participants including himself/herself to share how they have worked toward the goals of fishing for people since the previous session by doing the following:

The facilitator asks for a volunteer participant who will do the following:

State how he/she has been praying for another participant (can be the facilitator) since the previous session concerning the other participant s stated goal to fish for people.

Ask the other participant open-ended questions that cannot be answered with Yes/No as a copout such as:

How did it go when you shared bible passages or stories of Jesus with people on your Oikos map? (Two parties are involved for the accountability of a participant to share.)

How did it go when you invited people on your Oikos map to a CBS group you are trying to start? (Two parties are involved for the accountability of a participant to start a group.)

How did it go when you invited people on your Oikos map to a CBS group you have started? (Two parties are involved for the accountability of a participant to invite people.)

Pledge to revisit the matter with the other participant at the next session unless it is by then no longer relevant.

The facilitator should invite volunteers one by one to exhaustively perform the accountability function on all the participants including himself/herself.

In case there are not enough volunteers to hold every participant accountable, the facilitator should:

Perform the accountability function on the remaining participants, including himself/herself, if he/she is among them, based on the record of goals of fishing for people he/she kept from the previous session.

Have been praying since the previous session for every participant who has set a goal of fishing for people.

o  The facilitator starts a concert of intercessory prayer of the participants by calling on them to give thanks to God on behalf of one another concerning progress of fishing for people that has been made and to intercede on their behalf for setback that has been encountered.

9)       [VISION CASTING]

o  The vision-casting material is a bible passage that is used to energize the disciples to be like Jesus and to go and make disciples. It is in the catechized format.

o  The facilitator does vision casting using the vision-casting material.

o  The facilitator asks the participants who are committed disciples if any of them wants to play the role of the facilitator in a future CDMCPM session. The facilitator should refer those who want to do so to the current document and advise them to do the following:

Keep a written record of the goals of obedience set by all the participants in the CDMCPM session just prior to the CDMCPM session when they will play the role of the facilitator.

Keep a written record of the goals of fishing for people set by all the participants in the CDMCPM session just prior to the CDMCPM session when they will play the role of the facilitator.

Pray throughout the week for every participant who has set a goal of obedience in the CDMCPM session just prior to the CDMCPM session when they will play the role of the facilitator.

Pray throughout the week for every participant who has set a goal of fishing for people in the CDMCPM session just prior to the CDMCPM session when they will play the role of the facilitator.

10)   [CBS]

o  The facilitator facilitates the CBS using instructions from the following linked document and then returns to the current document in order to proceed to the next step: Guidelines for the Facilitator of the CBS

11)   [SET GOAL & PRAY]

o  Setting goals of obedience and fishing for people must be done voluntarily by the participants and not coerced.

o  The facilitator helps the participants set goals of obedience by doing the following:

Ask the participants that include the facilitator the question: If you agree with the word of God we have just discussed, how would you change your lives?

Ask the participants that include the facilitator to voluntarily set goals of obedience for the next week. Help them move from a general statement such as I will love God. to a specific statement, I will love God by ...

Keep a written record of the goals of obedience set by all the participants that include the facilitator. Each participant will be lovingly and not judgmentally held accountable for the set goals at the next session, for without loving accountability as follow-up for goal setting, obedience-based discipleship will fail.

If a participant chooses not to set a goal of obedience, reassure the participant that it is perfectly fine.

If a participant chooses to work on the same goal of obedience instead of setting a new one, reassure the participant that it is perfectly fine.

Never stop asking the participants to set goals of obedience because the CDMCPM session is meant to be an occasion for those who are favorably disposed toward God to step forward.

o  The facilitator starts a concert of intercessory prayer of the participants by calling on them to intercede on behalf of one another concerning goals of obedience that are to be met.

o  The facilitator calls on the participants to intercede on behalf of one another over the next week concerning goals of obedience that are to be met.

o  The facilitator helps the participants set goals of fishing for people by doing the following:

Ask the participants that include the facilitator to use the Oikos maps as a tool to pray for people they are fishing by doing the following:

If this has not been done already, ask the participants to view the video for Oikos Mapping that is a tool for praying for people who are far from God: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYvi69plgPY&t=92s

If this has not been done already, ask the participants to come up with their own Oikos maps.

Call on the participants to keep their Oikos maps up-to-date.

Call on the participants to consistently pray for people on their Oikos maps everyday.

Ask the participants that include the facilitator to voluntarily answer the following questions:

Whom on your Oikos map are you going to share bible passages or stories of Jesus with? (Two parties are involved for mobilizing a participant to share.)

Whom on your Oikos map are you going to invite to the CBS group you are in the process of starting? (Two parties are involved for mobilizing a participant to start a group.)

Whom on your Oikos map are you going to invite to the CBS group you have started? (Two parties are involved for mobilizing a participant to invite people.)

Keep a written record of the goals of fishing for people set by all the participants that include the facilitator. Each participant will be lovingly and not judgmentally held accountable for the set goals at the next session, for without loving accountability as follow-up for goal setting, obedience-based discipleship will fail.

If a participant chooses not to set a goal of fishing for people, reassure the participant that it is perfectly fine.

If a participant chooses to continue to work on the same goal of fishing for people from the previous week instead of setting a new one, reassure the participant that it is perfectly fine.

Never stop asking the participants to set goals of fishing for people because the CDMCPM session is meant to be an occasion for those who are favorably disposed toward God to step forward.

o  The facilitator calls on the participants to intercede on behalf of one another over the next week concerning goals of fishing for people that are to be met.

12)   [ENED CDMCPM SESSION]

o  The facilitator closes the CDMCPM session in payer.
