Preparation for effectiveness

========================

There are steps that the missionary can take to become effective on the mission field using CDMCPM as the tool:

·    Gaining proficiency in the written language of the mission field in order to read the bible in the language.  (The missionary can start this preparation before heading to the mission field.)

·    Translating CDMCPM into the language of the mission field.  (The missionary can start this preparation before heading to the mission field.)  Please note that CDMCPM in the language of the mission field might already be available if the language is shared by multiple unreached people groups.

·    Participating in a home hub (Steve Smith, 'Four Stages to No Place Left.' Mission Frontiers. September-October 2016.) that is a CDMCPM hosted in the home culture if available in order to gain familiarity with its practices.

·    Participating in a field hub (Steve Smith, 'Four Stages to No Place Left.' Mission Frontiers. September-October 2016.) that is a CDMCPM hosted in a near culture to that of the mission field if available in order to gain familiarity with its practices in the near culture.

·    Immersing in the culture of the mission field in order to gain

o   Proficiency in the spoken language for the sake of discussing the bible with people on the mission field.  (This preparation starts after the missionary has headed to the mission field.)

o   Insight for the sake of indigenizing the gospel.  (This preparation starts after the missionary has headed to the mission field.)

·    Indigenizing the gospel in the culture of the mission field via CDMCPM using guidelines laid out in the document entitled ‘Indigenizing the Gospel’.  When contextualizing the gospel, i.e., contextualizing evangelism, church and theology, in the target culture, Paul Hierbert’s principle of critical contextualization (Paul Hierbert, ‘Critical Contextualization.’ Missiology: An International Review 12 [3]: 287-96. 1984) should be followed in dealing with aspects of world view change, for instance, the switch from performing worshipping rites of ancestors to performing memorial acts of honoring ancestors as a result of contextualizing the theology of monotheism in the target culture.  (This preparation starts after the missionary has headed to the mission field.)
